Geoffrey Raines - Biography

Geoffrey Raines is a studio musician, guitarist, and American songwriter providing original content to his record label, www.BardoMusic.com. He started Bardo Music in 1993 to provide creative and artistic freedom in his songwriting and music production work. In addition to his solo efforts, Geoff has been the lead guitarist and co-founder for Erosion (e.g., coauthor with Lance Morrison of ‘Megalopolis’ and "Koko"), guitarist and songwriter for the South Hill Project, most recently touring with the Virginia-based "The Wayback Cats". Critics have noted his distinctive voice, memorable songwriting, and energetic performances, along with the influence of The Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan in his work.

Geoff has released eight solo albums of original music which have resulted in over 17 million song downloads. His albums blend elements of rock, folk, and country with distinctive arrangements, exploring themes of change, society, love, politics, and personal reflection. Geoff's songs are played on terrestrial radio, satellite radio, and online stations worldwide, and have placed in the Top 40 on Indie charts. His most downloaded songs include "Times Square" (2023), "When The World Comes Round" (2021), and "Where Does The Sky Start?" (2022). He was a winner in the 2022 Musiversal songwriting contest with "The Happy Place".

Geoff has worked on recordings with Billy Hawn (drummer for Jackson Brown, David Crosby), Lance Morrison (bassist for Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs, Alanis Morrisette and Don Henley), Pattie Howard (singer for Madonna, Quincy Jones), Dave Getz (drummer for Janis Joplin), James Graham (keys for Jay-Z and David Byrne), Blair Sinta (drummer for Ringo Starr, Chris Cornell, and John Fogerty) and Nick Vincent (drummer for Art Garfunkel).

He continues to write and release music to the major streaming outlets and to champions of independent radio.
